Well, they don't come much better than this, SEIKO Well, they don't come much better than this, SEIKO 3180 GS, the First GS from 1961. It is the best one I've ever seen. This one is in almost perfect condition. The movement had nothing wrong with it and simply needed service. The gold cap case was in excellent condition, some "Verdigris" around the back which was removed but otherwise great. Also original buckle and an NOS crown was fitted. How nice does it look, really? Looking at the underside of the balance wheel, you can see the extra work done to try and achieve that little extra isochronism for the Chronometer rating. Probably done by hand with the aid of an optical machine or something. Someone other than me would have a better idea how this was done back then. Now they are thrown in a machine that just shaves the balance to COSC or whatever the current standard is and you're done. Doing some testing right now as I'm about to relea Doing some testing right now as I'm about to release a 320W28 crystal. So I plucked a 6139-8000 out of the fleet to trial the prototype glass on. Looks pretty good except for the hideous blue AR (won't be on the production parts). These are one thick chunk of a watch. Wrist conformity? Nah, who needs it right? They just sit there as a slab like they just don't care. So far all going well testing wise. The last prototype was a smidge low, so the tip of the hand would clip the glass. Seems to be fixed now. Want a reason to ditch your Apple watch and go retro? This is it. Also a battery change doesn't mean simply disposing of it and buying the new model of Apple watch. +1 for sustainability. Essentially they re-released the vintage design, but with STEP COUNTER and BLUETOOTH! Also, did I mention, it has a PHONE FINDER feature...like....literally genius. They've knocked it out the park. Feature list - • Water resistance • Smartphone Link • Dual time • Step tracker • 1/100-second stopwatch (200 lap memories) • Countdown timer • 5 daily alarms • LED backlight The bluetooth can be used to log in a fitness app, and it also sync's the time (essentially to an atomic clock somewhere). Well, I was actually going to scrap this watch but Well, I was actually going to scrap this watch but after a close look, figured it was worth fixing. The dial is in exceptional condition, an specks are dust on the glass. It's a 1979, so before the global market rebranding (in about 1984?), to PROFESSIONAL. Turns out, also a birth year watch, so, a double win! The watch was heavily damaged movement side by a massive battery leak. So bad that I had to replace the mainplate. The acid actually damaged the connections between the posts and the plates, so it wouldn't get any contact to the "+" pole of the battery. The circuit, while a bit corroded, was recoverable. Crown also fell apart, but I pressed it all back together, so far so good. If the brass threaded section moves more, I'll spot weld it in place. In any case, it's back running again! I do have a bezel insert on the way from @yobokies97 as it's a little ugly. Ultimately, they are just a serialised 5626 movement with no additional adjustments, but they are so well made, they easily perform within Chronometer standards straight out of the gate. When you actually have to do some watchmaking... When you actually have to do some watchmaking... So most people don't know I'm a partially trained metal machinist. I went to a technical school as a kid and spent a few years on lathes, welding and various other metalworking equipment. This took me around 5 hours to make, but the part will work. All done without DRO or any automation, totally by hand and regular measurements. As it's a fairly large part to make on an 8mm lathe, I had to take fairly small nibbles, which is quite time consuming. The part itself is actually a bit boring, it's a pendant or crown tube for a 6105-8000, to replace one damaged by a previous watchmaker's work. Finish is pretty much equivalent to the original part. He probably at least had more than one. Yet, here, we see another very deceptive, non-authenticated auction for a watch worth about 500 bucks on a good day right now. While the very carefully constructed wording is all there, it's plain for anyone to see there is no direct claim of Arnold actually wearing the watch. It's just from some prop dude's inventory. This is definitely yet another caveat emptor when it comes to these "Hollywood Prop" auctions! With the amount of text there and excessively long descriptions, mixed in with boringly verbose film information, you could easily get caught if you didn't have a coffee that day! They have everything you need. The timing bezel really is plenty for timing most things you'd really want to time. Otherwise, they are uncomplicated, have a mineral glass crystal and just look great on most wrists. They are currently under priced in my opinion, so I'd pick one up while they are still a bargain. Are you the perfect drug? I've probably mentioned Are you the perfect drug? I've probably mentioned this before, but bang for buck, it's pretty hard to go past the SEIKO 7A series. The first quartz chronograph! They are overbuilt, lovely to work on and are just the right size for a normal sized wrist. Not much really goes wrong with them except the usual vintage watch stuff - seals etc. Hopefully, they never had an alkaline or RENATA battery fitted. After the apocalypse and collapse of society, these things will still be ticking, and will still be serviceable. If you can get one in good cosmetic condition, at the right price, just don't dither, hand over the money. Right now, values are down across the board, so this is the time to buy. OK so, I finally got some clarification on tariff OK so, I finally got some clarification on tariff charges etc from DHL Global Mail. The good news is they are happy to accept shipments. For now I have removed the DHL Express postal option as I still have no idea how to incorporate the costs into that right now. So USA buyers will pay a small surcharge on every order (this is in ebay's postal costs). The other costs are baked into a general price rise across my product range (which I haven't done for a while), and will be averaged out over all orders. Expect delivery delays for some time as US Customs and Border Protection are simply not prepared for the logistical nightmare this change will bring.
Geday, Unfortunately, I've had to suspend all shi Geday, Unfortunately, I've had to suspend all shipping to the US until I get more clarification on future tariff/import surcharge / broker fee/ customs handling fee / whatever, costs to ship to the US. Currently, I have absolutely no idea what those charges will be after Friday, and how to incorporate them into future shipments. I'm hoping the suspension won't be longer than a week, but it's dependent on the constantly changing (daily/hourly) information coming from my shipping carriers and the US Customs Service. As soon as I know what's going on and what those charges will be, I will resume US shipments.

I've posted on this before and probably sound pretty boring the 4th time round or so, but again, we see another massive electrolyte dump from a RENATA battery. It really beggars belief that many "battery change" booths actually charge a premium for a Swiss battery! Give me the cheaper Japanese part please! I know this one has been sitting for a few years, but I simply rarely see a massive electrolyte dump from the Japanese made batteries. Even if they do leak, it's usually a clear fluid and doesn't massively corrode everything in the movement. Anyways, that's my PSA for today.
